Three descendants of Madeleine and Louis, Marthe Desrochers (524), Médéric Desrochers (531) and Raymond Desrochers combined their efforts, some years ago, to make known their life experience in the open country to the youth, when oil lamps provided lighting and carriages were horse-drawn.

The result of their efforts is a 435 page book. It is in a professional looking 6 x 9 inch volume. As the authors relate personal experiences, it is a first person form narrative. The book contains 144 photos, 23 plans, sketches and tables. The family farm, daily and seasonal tasks, the special maple sugar period, feeding, clothing, house keeping, the range school, religious practices, social life and kids games are described. There is also a short look at the family genealogy and a description of changes that came about since these not too distant times.
